Two Sussex players have been selected by England for the inaugural Over-50s Cricket World Cup that gets underway in Sydney later this month.
Jason Robinson of Preston Nomads CC and Scott Stratton of Billingshurst CC are members of a 16-man squad will travel to Australia for the tournament that runs from Tuesday 20th November to Wednesday 5th December.
England are joined in the competition by seven other nations; Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Wales.
The 50-over-a-side tournament will see each side play each other once in a round-robin league, with the top four-sides progressing to the semi-finals.
The competition will be played on grounds used for Sheffield Shield, Grade and Shires cricket, including the Bradman Oval at Bowral and the Manly Oval.
England begin their campaign against Sri Lanka on the opening day at Hurstville Oval. The side will also play three ODIs against Australia during their time Down Under.
Robinson – who is also a Sussex Cricket Board Member – and Stratton were selected for the trip following trial games at the start of the 2018 season and their consistent performances during the 2018 Over 50’s County Championship.
Ian Jones of Preston Nomads CC will also join the tour as Assistant Manager.
