Three young Sussex players, two from the Sussex girls’ Academy and one from Sussex’s Emerging Players Programme have been selected for the Under-19 Kia Super League Regional Development Centres (RDC) competition which takes place in Taunton from Friday 20th to Monday 23rd July.
Sussex Under-17 captain and batsman, Ella Wadey and Under-15 captain and batsman, Ella McCaughan have been selected for the Southern Vipers RDC team, having trained all winter with them at the RDC camps.
Under-15 spinner, Hollie Young has been selected to play for the Surrey Stars. The girls will play in the competition against the other KSL RDC squads from around the country.
Sussex Academy & EPP coach, Ian Cox said: “ Both Ella Wadey and Ella McCaughan who are both on the Sussex Academy have been involved all winter with the Southern Vipers and Hollie Young who is on our EPP programme has been selected to represent Surrey Stars based on her performances for both the Sussex Under-15s and Under-17s so far this summer.
“All three girls have had a good start to the season, having worked hard on their development over the winter and then putting it into practice in match situations. This will be an ideal opportunity to challenge themselves against some of the best young prospects in the country in the girls’ game and I am sure they will relish the challenge.”
